Attack on Titan Fans Are Heartbroken That Show is Ending After Episode 87
After running for four seasons, Attack on Titan is close to its end, and fans are excited about the final episode. Fans who didn’t read the manga are eager to find out if the Rumbling can be stopped. Also, it would be interesting to see which characters will make out alive after they confront the Founding Titan and his enormous army of Colossal titans.
However, at the same time, fans realize that their beloved anime series will end after this weekend’s episode. Of course, episode 87 will adapt Chapter 130, and there are nine more chapters left in the manga. But there’s no confirmation from MAPPA about AoT’s return with Part 3. So, for now, this seems like the end for Attack on Titan.

Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 12 Review: The Dawn of Humanity
This is it. This is where it all ends. Or not, since everyone knows the show isn’t ending with Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 12. How could it, when the story isn’t anywhere near completion yet? Let’s find out where the series’ future lies in this review!
Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 12 Overview
Attack On Titan Season 4 Episode 28 , Attack On Titan Episode 87
What more is there left to be said about Attack On Titan? Even if you only consider yourself a casual anime fan, this show is probably one that you know about and watch avidly. It is an action and supernatural show based on the works of Hajime Isayama. It is known as Shingeki no Kyojin in original Japanese, and thus this half of the season is also called Shingeki no Kyojin Season 4 Part 2. You can also call it Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 or Shingeki no Kyojin Final Season Part 2 if you’d like.
This season is being animated by Studio MAPPA, a powerhouse studio behind several immensely popular anime properties, including Jujutsu Kaisen and the future Chainsaw Man. This season is directed by Yuiichirou Hayashi, with Jun Shishido serving as the chief director of the show. The duo was also in charge of Part 1 of the final season, alongside several other acclaimed anime such as Kakegurui and Hajime no Ippo. You can find our review of the previous episode right here.

Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 2 Episode 12 Review- The Past vs The Future
This was perhaps the most essential episode of Attack on Titan we have had so far. As far as important developments go, this outing lacked them heavily. However, it made up for them with a fantastic trip to the past, one that explained a lot about what took place in the series before season 4 turned everything on its head. This was an episode that people will look back upon and thank for providing the context that was needed to connect to the main character in the show- Eren Yeager.

This outing involved the show going back to the time before it all went horribly wrong- when the survey corps visited the Marleyan Mainlands for the first time. It was sobering to have the entire group back as it used to be before Zeke betrayed his country. It was heartwarming to see Sasha again, and their antics on the mainland provided much-needed relief from the show’s current dark tone. The darkness is necessary and is still great in many ways, but the light is what lifts the spirit and prepares it for the horrors that lie ahead.
This was also a cornerstone episode for Mikasa, a character who, in many ways, has been forgotten by the show. She, alongside Armin, was a huge part of Eren’s journey before Season 4, after which they were both unceremoniously dumped by the show. It was liberating to see that she tried to address her relationship with Eren and was concerned about Eren’s state of mind from the start. That’s what friends are for, and Mikasa is certainly among the best of them. We remember, even if the show doesn’t.

Eren Yeager, a character who is already being and will still be dissected for a long time after the show ends, didn’t change as quickly as Season 4 made him appear to. In Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 Episode 12 (or Shingeki no Kyojin Final Season Part 2 Episode 12), we see essentially his final moments as a human being and not a cog in the wheel to save his island from annihilation. We got a look at how things could have been if there was peace in the world and people did not hate eldians just for existing, and that accomplished in 5 minutes what Season 4 Part 1 couldn’t do in 16 episodes.
And here we are, at the end of this part of the final season, and there is so much story to tell. So many characters that are yet to receive their final moments, and we will have to wait a while to see Eren Yeager’s final moments in the sun. I have purposefully not brought up the production and background issues until now because I have already beaten that point to death in my previous reviews, and you can read those if you want to know that badly how much wrong MAPPA has gotten with this show. All we know is that we’ll be watching in 2023, whether we like it or not.
Verdict
Attack On Titan Season 4 Part 2 Episode 12 was a sobering look into the lengths the show has come and how close we are to the endgame. It’s a shame it isn’t anytime soon, but it is going to be worth it if it’s great or absolutely horrendous.
